Sing up for our cost-free workshops/information sessions and learn about resumes, interviews, writing a cover letter, networking, job search strategies as you look for work and plan your life in Canada. 

Job Search Support and Career Counselling will provide you with the information and skills to guide you in your job search and help you reach your employment goal. 

Settlement Services counsellors will help you keep informed and connected to community services as you settle and become independent. We provide one-on-one counselling, capacity-building workshops, referrals to community resources, and assistance in identifying and reaching your settlement goals. 

The Centre for Newcomers offers services in English as well as over 40 other languages.

We offer offsite support at the following locations:

Eligibility Criteria
*Modest income (guidelines set by the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Individual – $30,000
  • Couple - $40,000
  • Dependents – add $2,500 for each dependent
*Interest income must be under $1,000

*Simple tax situation
  • Must not be self-employed
  • Must not be filing for someone deceased 
  • Must not have filed for bankruptcy
  • Must not have business or rental income and expenses
Clients need to come with all income slips for 2016 taxation year:
  • Picture ID
  • All T4 slips (employment slips from your place of work)
  • Slips related to income (pension, CPP, disability, CCB, EI, social assistance)
Computer Literacy Class and Conversation Club for refugees
Are you a refugee? Would you like to get Basic Computer and practice English language skills?
Register for Computer Literacy Class or Conversation Club -  Centre’s volunteer-led initiative.
 April 5th to May 24, Wednesdays, 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
