Integration Matters

FALL 2015

Integration is what we work towards every day, it is the future we envision: a diverse and integrated community where people of all backgrounds find and create opportunities to fulfill their dreams and participate fully as citizens. It is also a passion we are committed to because it matters so greatly.

We're looking forward to sharing more news and information through this newsletter. Feel free to pass this on to others who share our passion or might want to learn more about why integration matters.

Change: Some resist, some avoid, we say "Bring it on!"

2015 has been a year of change at the Centre. Some change you can deliberately plan for, and other change...well, you just need to seize the opportunity!

Our Board of Directors was very deliberate in planning for change by engaging
the consulting firm Impact8 Inc. to assist with the succession of our Executive Director. Both deliberate in thought and in planning, leading up to and following the retirement of Dale Taylor after 15 years with the Centre. The selection process for our new ED is underway and an announcement is coming soon.

When the van broke down for EthniCity Catering and our mechanic refused to see it again...we hadn't planned for that, but we recognized it was an opportunity in disguise. The new van is bigger and better allowing us to fill large catering orders with ease.

There's a lot more on the go and
few highlights are below. 2016 is looking bright!

New Website Live

We're Getting Social!
Huge thanks to The Calgary Foundation for funding the development of our new site, to Freshwater Creative for the design work, and BroadView Communications Group who helped shape our message and refresh our content.

We're happy to present a more user-friendly site linking us to social media platforms that connect with the right audience with targeted messaging to engage with the business community, promote the value that immigrants bring to our community and the many services that the Centre delivers.

It's been a long thoughtful process and we've had great feedback from clients on a more user-friendly site. We'll also be adding online registration shortly as an option for various activities.

To stay connected with the Centre, you can 'Follow' us on Linked-In or Twitter and 'Like' us on Facebook.

Holiday Menu

EthniCity Catering

Food, flavour and fun - a recipe for success!
It's been a year of change for our social enterprise, EthniCity Catering. Thanks to our many supporters and the friends of Dale Taylor, we raised funds to purchase a commercial van.

Our holiday menu is now available and a new catering menu is being cooked up, literally! Our kitchen staff is trying out new recipes and we're savouring the samples every day. We've updated our operations in a number of ways, including: updating and combining the Ethnicity Website with our main site, and moving to a new catering software to better run the business-side of the program.

New wheels, a new website, a new menu, new catering software - we're ready for some serious business!

Place your order today for your next event - corporate or personal - we cater them all.

Our New
Executive Director!

Stay tuned for more info
Our Board of Directors planned a very intentional transition for the succession of our next Executive Director. While it may seem to some we've been in limbo for quite sometime, it has been a great period of reflection and rejuvenation.

In many ways it's been business as usual, our Management Team has truly stepped up and provided strong guidance to our Interim Executive Director, Nora Molina, and we're ready to welcome our new leader soon.

Under Dale Taylor's tenure as ED we've seen our Centre more than quadruple in size. The Board of Directors has been very clear that it is time now to focus our work externally and our new Executive Director will have a more external role in the greater Calgary community. We're excited for the change this will bring for all of us!
