The Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) is an established guide for learners, educators and employers to understand a common assessment method for individuals who are learning English as a second language.

To register for LINC classes, you must first visit the Immigrant Language and Vocational Assessment Referral Centre (or ILVARC) through Immigrant Services Calgary to
take a Canadian Language Benchmark English Exam.

Immigrant Services Calgary is the only language assessment centre in Calgary authorized to determine eligibility for the federally sponsored Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program (free of charge for those who qualify).
