Tax Clinics

Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), community organizations host free tax preparation clinics and arrange for volunteers to prepare income tax and benefit returns for eligible individuals who have a modest income and a simple tax situation.

Change Notice for Clients
Appointment bookings for tax clinics will be done through in-person registration this year starting 
Tuesday, February 21 at 10:00 am.
Appointments may be booked between Monday and Saturday from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm 
at the Centre for Newcomers.  
Extended hours will be on Mondays and Wednesdays until 7:00 pm.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Modest income (guidelines set by the Canada Revenue Agency)

  • Interest income must be under $1,000

Simple tax situation

  • Must not be self-employed, a consultant or have employment expenses

  • Must not be filing for someone deceased within the taxation year 2016

  • Must not have filed for bankruptcy

  • Must not have business or rental income and expenses

  • Must not have capital gains or losses

Clients need to come with all income slips for the 2016 taxation year:

  • Picture ID

  • All T4 slips (employment slips from your place of work)

  • Slips related to income (pension, CPP, disability, CCB, EI, social assistance)

Please ensure that all documents are in order before coming to book an appointment as clients with missing income slips will not be able to book an appointment.
