AFGHAN AND VULNERABLE WOMEN’S RESILIENCY PROGRAM

CFN is excited to start the new cohort of the Afghan and Vulnerable Women’s Resiliency Program. This three-month, employment-focused initiative is designed for vulnerable women to build resilience, develop new skills, and connect with a supportive community!

This program helps women to gain skills and confidence through:

Professional workshops on resumes, cover letters, and interview preparation

one-on-one employment counseling

Employability skills training

Work experience opportunities

Connecting with various community resources

Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid work permit

CLB 2 and above

Ready to work and complete 2 weeks of mandatory volunteer work training

CENTRE FOR NEWCOMERS’ TOTALLY AWESOME CAMPS
​MONDAY TO FRIDAY
MARCH 14-28, 2025

Totally Awesome Camp is a school-aged care program designed for children aged 6 to 12. The program offers various activities, including arts and crafts, swimming, drama, dance, organized sports, self-esteem building, and initiatives promoting an active lifestyle, well-being, and overall health. Participants engage in enjoyable crafts, games, and excursions that foster creativity, communication, and leadership skills.
Purpose of the Camp
The camp's primary goal is to prevent boredom and keep children active with fun and hands-on activities. The program allows them to explore and develop their artistic and creative skills, which may not always be emphasized in their regular school curriculum while building new friendships. Additionally, these camps serve as a valuable resource for families who require childcare while working and seeking structured, recreational enrichment experiences for their children during school breaks and closures.

NEWCOMER
THERAPEUTIC CRISIS
INTERVENTION
ONGOING
CFN's Newcomer Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Program aims to provide therapy support in first-language services for newcomer clients of any age within 24 hours of receiving a referral.
As many newcomers won't call a helpline when in distress, this project will provide immediate therapeutic intervention within 24 hours of receiving the referral without waiting for an interpreter.

ENGLISH FOR SUCCESS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING SESSIONS AVAILABLE
Come practise and develop your English skills in a small and fun group setting. Make friends with people from around the world. Learn more about resources to help you with your settlement in Calgary.​
Morning and afternoon in-person classes are available depending on your level.

Trainees gain hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen and cafe, improve communication skills and employability skills during the program.
